Ingredients

  • Rice:
  • 2 cups basmati rice rinsed until water runs clear
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • 2 cups water
  • Seasoning:
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 4 tbsp butter cut into pieces

Instructions

  • Rinse basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  • Set pressure cooker (Instant Pot or similar) to sauté mode.
  • Add oil and allow it to heat.
  • Add rinsed rice and cook for 2–3 minutes, stirring gently to lightly toast the rice.
  • Turn off sauté mode.
  • Add water using an equal ratio of water to rice.
  • Add salt, onion powder, and butter pieces.
  • Stir everything gently to combine.
  • Close the lid and set pressure cooker to the rice setting.
  • Once cooking is complete, perform a quick pressure release.
  • Open lid and fluff rice with a spoon or fork before serving.
